Rumors of reopening are in the air, and we are all eager to rebuild a sense of normalcy in our life. Who doesn’t dream of a six-week vacation, but these past weeks have been anything but that! I hear your calls, emails and frustrations-
'When can I go back to work'? The short answer is 'NOT YET'.
Plans to reopen is positive news however it continues to be dependent on the following:
Available supply chain of PPE
Available and adequate testing
I wish I had all the answers to when and how practicing dentistry will present. For me some of the frustration is needing answers NOW especially when one feels they have ‘too much time on my hands’. Over and over we hear from news sources we are living in unchartered waters. I continue to look to ADA, CDA and the CDC for guidance, and I urge you to do the same. Today ADA posted a return to work toolkit to assist dentists with the many considerations necessary to resume work. Additionally, CDA will add to this toolkit in the near future.
Respiratory Protections in the Era of Covid-19
Last Friday I listened to a great informative webinar that ADA presented, on 'Respiratory Protections in the era of Covid-19'. Highlights include:
Steps to introduce the use of N95 and other respirators in dental settings
Practical tips for developing the OSHA respiratory protection program, including fit-testing, medical evaluation and training
Different levels of surgical masks and how they compare to N95 respirators
Proper steps for donning and doffing of all PPE
Quick links to updated information
CDA has waived all fees for online CE, don't miss out on this member benefit!
*California dentists whose licenses expire between March and June are granted an
extension until September 30, 2020.
