Disaster Support
Supported Members Affected by Eaton Fire
In January 2025, the Eaton Fire swept through parts of Pasadena and Altadena, causing significant damage to homes and businesses in the area. Several of our dentist members were directly affected - some losing access to their residences and dental offices due to fire damage, smoke contamination, or safety hazards that required them to temporarily relocate and suspend practice operations.
In response, the Foundation of San Gabriel Valley Dental Society launched the Eaton Fire Relief Membership Dues Grant to provide assistance to members impacted by the disaster. Through this special program, the Foundation offered full or partial reimbursement of the 2025 local society membership dues to eligible members. Applicants submitted documentation of insurance claims related to the fire to verify eligibility.
The Foundation distributed relief grants to members who experienced severe losses, including smoke and ash contamination, property damage, and displacement from their homes and practices.
The response from the dental community was deeply heartwarming. Some members graciously donated dental and cleaning supplies, and even opened their own office spaces to help colleagues continue caring for patients. Others generously contributed monetary donations, which funded the relief grants and provided direct support to those affected. It was a true demonstration of compassion, unity, and the strength of our local dental community in times of hardship.
This initiative reflects the Foundation’s ongoing mission to support our members and the greater community during times of need. We also extend appreciation to the CDA Foundation for its ongoing statewide Disaster Relief Grant Program, which offers additional support to California dental professionals impacted by natural disasters.
